Focus on GE’s PCB Cleanup Shifts to Local Dumps
January 27 – (Berkshire Eagle) – After appealing EPA’s order to remove PCBs from the Housatonic River in 2016, a court order may allow GE to avoid the extra costs and troubles of disposing of the PCBs offsite, opting instead for local toxic dump sites in Berkshire County, MA. Meanwhile, according to Housatonic River Initiative executive director Tim Gray, the EPA has been visiting local environmentalist and activist groups regarding the decision and offering promises in turn that more PCBs will be removed from the River.
