Minden residents want relocated, ask governor for help
Residents of Minden, WV located in Fayette County have issued a verbal plea on social media outlets to Gov. Jim Justice and the EPA for aid in evacuation and relocation services due to PCB contamination in their community.
Minden, a small town of roughly 250 residents and a median household income of $19,305, has seen 107 deaths in the last four years from various types of cancers which residents attribute to uncontrolled PCB contamination. Test results have detected PCBs at four sites in Minden including some residents’ yards.
The community also seeks help from environmentalist Lois Gibbs who has helped relocate citizens from 16 communities in the US and Puerto Rico due to contamination from environmental hazards such as PCB runoff and waste….Read More
